Blooming Batik Lotuses for a Yoga Mat

As yoga enthusiasts, we reached out to local brand, Karyaful, to propose an Artist Edition series of yoga mats. They immediately took to the idea and together we created a batik-inspired mat.
The floral motifs were drawn from flowers and fruits that grow in Malaysia. Taking centre stage, layered lotuses float together on water. Hence, the name ‘Teratai' (meaning ‘lotus’).
This alternative design proposed above is a mirror repeat of an illustrated fictional flower inspired by the vibrant colours of Malaysia, finished with white dots usually seen on traditional batik fabrics.
