karya mats x Shan Shan Lim (2017)
I had the pleasure of collaborating with karya mats for their first series of their exclusive ‘Artist Edition'. I was inspired by the Malaysian traditional textiles, particularly batik, a resist dye technique.
The floral motifs were drawn from flowers and fruits that grow in our tropical motherland. The final design manifested as layered lotuses floating together on water, hence, the name 'Teratai'.
